If your dog is laying in the hole it dig, it may be too hot or too cold. If it’s hot, make sure your dog has plenty of water and a cool place to lay, if it’s cold give you do a place to go that is out of the wind. One of the easiest ways to give your dog shelter is to buy a dog house for her.

This is great exercise for your dog. If you have to leave the dog alone, give her plenty of toys to play with while you’re out.
If nothing else works, try giving your dog a special place to dig. Give her a special treat then they dig in their special area. As a last resort, bury chicken wire where your Labrador Retriever likes to dig. She wont like the feel of the wire and will probably stop digging there.
However, not leaving your Labrador Retriever is really the best option. Try sectioning off a part of the yard to keep him in when you are out. At least any damage from digging will be in one area
Digging is preventable. It can be as easy as giving alternatives to the reasons that your dog is digging. Getting mad at your digging dog won’t work. Negative reinforcement is a poor way to train a dog. Positive reinforcement is the only thing that will do any good in the long term. Lots of love and exercise goes a long way to a happy, healthy Lab. Giving your dog a lot of love and positiveness will make you a great dog trainer.
